The shooting occurred on February 6 at the resort.
Police say the victim was visiting the resort with her boyfriend when the incident occurred.
Authorities say the couple was inside a car when the shooter opened fire on them.
The couple was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
Police believe the shooting was accidental.
Police have said the suspect is still at large.
The resort has been in lockdown and the resort is in the midst of an investigation.
Tropical Island was originally a resort in Puerto Rico, but it has grown in popularity since Hurricane Maria struck the island.
