Jons, the popular superstore in Canada, is facing its biggest wave of criticism since it opened in 2008.
The chain is facing a lawsuit from a man who claims he was harassed and denied service after buying a pair of shoes at a store in Guelph, Ont., in 2016.
The lawsuit claims that the store’s owners, Peter and Catherine Jons of Guelp, Ont.
were “grossly negligent” in not ensuring customers of the Guelworth, Ont.-based supermarket were able to obtain a pair to wear in their store.
The suit also alleges that Jons’ employees were allowed to refuse to accept customers if they were wearing a Jons shirt or jeans.
Jons, based in Guyln, Ont, said it has no comment.
