When Michelle got married, the couple thought they were going to have a happy life.
That didn’t last.
She was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer and needed a transplant.
After surgery and a two-year fight with chemo, she lost the ability to breathe and was left with permanent lung damage.
But the good news is she still loves her husband and her children.
“I was so blessed and I just thought, ‘What the heck am I doing here?’ and I said, ‘I can’t wait for my children to get married and have a baby,'” Michelle said.
“That’s the best thing you can ever say to somebody who’s not in your life.”
And she did it in front of her children and her husband.
“I was in shock.
It was unbelievable.
I thought, Wow, it was the biggest thing I’ve ever done.
That was the moment I finally felt like I was doing the right thing.”
But it wasn’t just the kids who got to see Michelle and her family get married.
Michelle says the reception was amazing, too.
“The kids, they were really happy, especially the little ones, that had a little smile on their face,” she said.
The couple met at a grocery near their home in Santa Monica, Calif., and quickly got along well.
She says they got married after they went shopping and her mom was just so excited for the wedding.
“She wanted to get in the wedding and we just got it together and just started celebrating,” Michelle said of her mom.
But the marriage wasn’t without its ups and downs.
She admits it was hard to get her life back on track.
But she said the biggest challenge was just to make it through the hospital.
“It was the hardest thing I have ever done,” she added.
“You feel like you have no control over your life, no control whatsoever.”
Michelle said the doctors did everything they could to help her but she just wasn’t strong enough.
“Even though I had the cancer, I had no control,” she explained.
In the end, Michelle’s life took a turn for the better when she found love again in the hospital and was able, like her husband, to have children. “
If you have the cancer and you’re a good person, I’m sure he would be happy for you to have the life that you have now.”
In the end, Michelle’s life took a turn for the better when she found love again in the hospital and was able, like her husband, to have children.
Michelle says she was able a year after the wedding to take care of her family and start making good money again.
She has since worked as a personal trainer and is now working on a career in corporate marketing.
Michelle is now a mom of two girls, ages 6 and 10, who love to play soccer, go to school and dress up in their favorite outfits.
“We love to go to the beach and play and do our own thing.
We’re just very happy and healthy and love it,” Michelle told NBC News.
And now, Michelle says she’s back on her feet and ready to give her life a second chance.
With the help of the American Cancer Society, Michelle is also hoping to have her own breast surgery in the future.
