New supermarkets will open in Brisbane’s super town of Coonamble.
Coonamble Mayor Rob Steeves said the company will operate two new super supermarkets within a two-hour drive of the town.
“The supermarkets will have a range of products that you can find on the supermarket shelves, including some brand-new products from brands that we’re looking to expand,” Mr Steeve said.
He said the supermarket would be a part of the Coonawall precinct, which was first announced in June last year.
“We’ve seen a huge uptake of the new supermarkets in the last six months, with more than 1,500 people coming in for the first time,” he said.
Mr Steevers said there was no need for the new supermarket to be on a busy street, because it would be close to the CBD.
The city council has said the first store will be opening in early 2018.
