The first stores in the country to begin selling a range of tropical fruit and vegetable products will be rolled out in the capital over the coming days.
The new products include the tropical fruit juice that’s already available in Victoria, the frozen pineapple and the vegetable salad in addition to the seasonal fruit drinks, ice-cream and juice.
The Victoria Department of Health said the fresh fruit and vegetables would be available at 10 supermarkets, as well as in supermarkets across Victoria.
A spokesperson for Victoria’s department of health said that the products would be offered on a first come, first served basis, and would be able to be bought at supermarkets in the state.
“They will be available for free to Victoria consumers for a limited time from Monday,” the spokesperson said.
“Victoria is in the midst of a heatwave and there are concerns about the safety of these products.”
We’re working closely with the Victorian government to ensure the products are safe and that customers can enjoy them safely.
“The Department of Environment said the new products will also help to reduce carbon emissions and reduce the likelihood of a repeat of last year’s heatwave.
The department said the Victoria Department would also monitor the health of the products and ensure the public was aware of the product availability.
