Posted February 09, 2019 11:15:50 Walmart is adding more than 400 jobs in its food departments, bringing the total number of food service jobs at the company to more than 2,200, according to a company news release.
Walmart announced the job cuts on Tuesday, with a spokeswoman confirming the number of openings.
The new jobs will add about 200 people to the food service department and about 100 to the distribution department, the Walmart spokeswoman said.
“This is a significant step forward in our commitment to improving our food service team,” the company said in a statement.
“Walmart is proud of our food-delivery team and is committed to helping our associates meet the challenges of their jobs.”
The company said it will also spend $100 million to expand its distribution system.
The food service group is expected to add about 3,400 employees over the next four years, the company added.
